At least that's what Stacie always says about Holiday dinners. We had our first official Pie Fest at our family Thanksgiving Dinner yesterday. It was so fun to see all the pies; beautiful, luscious, come hither pies. The only thing that would have made it better were little place cards that had the kind and maker of each pie on it. There were actually 14 pies, but only 13 made the photo. Among the varieties were: Sour Cream Lemon, Lemon Meringue, Coconut Cream, Banana Cream, Pumpkin, Chocolate/Heath Bar Cream, Apple Tart, Apple and Tollhouse. If I left out any varieties, forgive me, we will document the pies and the bakers next time. Everyone did a marvelous job on their creations and it was fun to taste them all. For myself, I learned a lot this year. What to do different, what not to do, etc. I will post the things that worked well, as well as Nana's recipes for the ones we made on the Cook Nook blog. I hope all of you who made pies will do the same. It was a memorable experience. Thanks to you all for making Pie Fest 2008 so much fun. Thank you Leslie for this tradition we borrowed from your family. We will love it for years to come.
