August

There's always a certain amount of relief that comes with August. Not so much with the weather, but the knowledge that summer is coming to an end and the holidays are just around the corner. I'm a holiday junkie, so I guess I look at it as “then we have Sept. and then Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas”. The kids all think I'm crazy because I start thinking about Christmas way before now. I can't wait for the Holiday ribbon to come in at Costco. I have to buy a few spools every year because I love holiday ribbon. I usually have some idea what everyone is getting for Christmas by now and have started working on it. I am excited for the kids to start school. I loved school. If I could be a perpetual student, I would be. School is so great for so many reasons, yet I know it's different for my grandkids than it was for me. Or at least that's what I am told. I look forward to Dune season starting and the trips down there with family. I'm really hoping my brother and sister-in-law will come with us this year and make some good memories with us. I guess I need to get some new camp chairs. Ours are finally giving out after about 10 years. Jade is back teaching in Safford, Summer is starting out this year as a teacher's aide, Tawna will have her little classes going, Stacie has all four in school for at least part of the day, and Taya will have her new little one. I am still plugging away in the house going through closets, cupboards and the pantry (ugh) and trying to downsize and streamline. I'm sure after I downsize the pantry I will just add to it again. Utah peaches and pears, as well as berries, tomatoes and apples will be arriving around the middle of the month. I will be canning and hopefully teaching my girls how to so they can have some good food storage in their pantries. Mostly I just want the help, if they learn anything that's a plus! JK! Maybe one of these days I will get serious about making bread again. I love it when I keep up with it and we have fresh bread all the time. I need to get the lead out. August is good.
