Jade and Jeff are in town for a shopping/baptism/see the new baby visit. It has been a while since they actually stayed with us, and not since we have been here at Pop's. Of course Jade and I were up until the wee hours this morning solving all our problems and getting in some good Mom/Daughter time. Needless to say we were both worthless this morning as far as getting up and getting breakfast etc. Grumpy took Jaxon and Jake (Jeff's nephew) flying around 6 am and I did hear kids about 7:30. I heard Jade tell them to come to her downstairs. After a while I didn't hear any activity, so I assumed they went to run some of their errands. As I was lying in bed trying to make myself get up I kept hearing the saddest sound. I couldn't tell where it was coming from and it was very intermittent so I just went on convincing myself it was time to get up. I would still hear it every now and then, so finally got up and went to investigate. I looked outside, no Jade car. I looked in the house, no Jade. No boys. I sat down at the desk to check my email and heard it again. It was such a wrenching sob and I could tell it was coming from outside. I went to the back door and looked out. At first I didn't see anything amiss. Then I noticed a small little body sitting in back of the lion on the planter. I went to see and it was Ryker. He was heart broken because he couldn't find his Mommy or Daddy. I was sure they wouldn't have left him behind, so I told him to come with me and we would find his mom. It was all I could do not to cry with him at this point, he was so distraught. We went downstairs and sure enough, she had gone back to bed for a little nap. Ryker just hasn't been here enough lately to know where to look for her. He didn't want to wake her up, it was enough for him to know she was there. We went upstairs to get a bowl of cereal, and wiped the tears off his cheeks. I'm really glad he didn't run down the street to look for them. He was just staring at the place where their car should be. Jeff walked in 2 minutes later and by then Ryker was all smiles. As I was getting his cereal he asked me if I brought my sugar with me from the other house. He wanted to make sure there was ample sugar for his breakfast. It's always amazing to me the things kids think. We'll have to make sure they all know how to find their way around the house better.
